#1: The Beginning

Well, here I am. I never thought I would go to University twice. The first time round I lived in Germany. Growing up there and navigating the German education system, I ended up finding school to be a chore. Now I know, it vastly matters who your teachers (and peers) are. Because initially I loved it. So then being able to go to University was not only a proud achievement for me personally, but also for my family since nobody else had ever been an academic. I cherish my time at Uni. Like many people, it was an instrumental part of my character development and the learning environment was very much enjoyable - probably because I had keen like-minded folks around me and I could choose what I was interested in, rather than being forced to learn "useless" stuff.

Now, to find myself again at a similar crossroads, starting a second academic degree is exhilarating to say the least. Doing all this in another country and in another language might bring up occasional challenges. However, my brain is hungry for knowledge more than ever. I can't wait to get properly started in October 2026.

Having received my first module package from the OU through the post was like christmas. In the next few weeks I will be reading through the course books, itching with impatience. I am so excited - in case this hasn't transpired yet (:
